Audio player with advantages
This app is a music player for Android devices. Songs or other audio files that are stored on the Android device and are recognized by Android as audio files can be played. Special audio formats (e.g. APE) that Android does not automatically recognize cannot be played. The app offers various standard lists of audio media:
Songs alphabetically
Albums
By genre and artist
You can put together a selection of music yourself. They can be selected as favorites. Or you can create playlists from selected music pieces.
Retro Musicbox offers two options for what is displayed during music playback:
Displaying song information
Displaying images stored on the device
If images are to be shown as a show during music playback, they must first be selected from the device's image inventory.
For newer Android devices, two different selection mechanisms are available:
Selection via an app dialog: This only shows locally stored images. It also offers an action for selecting all locally stored images
Selection via a standard Android selection dialog: This can also suggest images for selection that are stored in the cloud and whose access is registered on the device (e.g. in Google Photos).
Caution: If you select images that are stored in the cloud, they are usually no longer available after restarting the device. To avoid this, the app has an option in the settings to also save these images on the device. This ensures availability, but also leads to additional memory consumption. If these images are removed from the selection, they are automatically deleted from the device.
(Pro Version)
The order in which images are displayed during music playback can be set using various options.
You can set how long each image is displayed for
A series of image animations controls the display during playback.
The duration of this animation can also be set.
Be your own music editor!
You can schedule playlists at which times throughout the week. If you also assign compilations of images and videos to the playlists, you can create a daily, varied, multimedia experience.
The equalizer offers the option of choosing from a range of sound presets.
You can also use the slide controls to make your own sound settings.
The bass can also be amplified separately.
The integrated virtualizer can also be used to control the sound reproduction.
For both versions of the Retro Musicbox, special variants are available that are optimized for use on Android TV devices.
These variants support the use of the app via remote controls or game controllers that have a directional pad and various standard buttons (Menu, Select, Back). This means that the app can be used with these remote controls without a mouse or touch screen.
Playback of music tracks stored on Google Drive
Display of images stored on Google Drive
Integration of locally stored videos in the image selection (these are played without sound).
Compilation of several image selection lists
Assignment of image/video lists to music playlists
If playback is continued after restarting the app, the last image shown is also displayed
Please note: So far I am not aware of a working variant in which Android TV devices can also access Google Drive music and images without additional apps.
